Buffalo Projects
People should be able to build more in Buffalo.
Buffalo Projects exists to increase what people can make happen in Buffalo and Western New York. We want to build technology that helps people, small teams, and organizations take on work they couldn’t reasonably attempt before.
Built here. For people here.
Everything Buffalo Projects provides to an individual is free. Your work stays yours. Organizations and Space operators keep control of what they offer.
The next Buffalo Projects
A new chapter for Buffalo Projects.
Buffalo Projects started with students who wanted a place to develop their ideas and show their work. Since then, we’ve built project tools, launched Jobs and Events, and kept pushing on what this could become.
Now we’re bringing much more of that work into Buffalo Projects: Spaces, tools for Organizations, personal profiles, and better ways to develop and share your projects. Organizations can maintain their own information and use supported embeds on their own websites.
Our ambition is to increase what people can make happen in Buffalo. This release puts more of that ambition into your hands.
01 / Spaces
469 Franklin, our initial flagship Space
469 Franklin Makerspace is independently owned and operated. It is the initial flagship for Buffalo Projects Spaces. Its operator decides what happens there, who can participate, and what to publish about equipment, access, and availability.
Startup and business leader cohorts start October 13, 2026. Meeting times and participation will be confirmed separately. Registering interest does not reserve a place.
02 / Organizations
More control over what you offer
Organization pages bring source-backed public information together. Authorized stewards can edit their own information, preview it, publish it, and choose where an embed can appear. An organization keeps its identity and decisions. Requesting stewardship starts a review; it does not grant editing access.
03 / Your work
Room for your own work
Start a private project, return to your work, and choose what to share. Your profile is another way to show what you do. Creating an account or a project does not publish it, and you do not need either to explore Jobs and Events.
04 / Jobs + Events
Keep finding what’s happening here
Jobs and Events remain free to explore without an account. Search, save in your browser, and continue with the employer or organizer responsible for the opportunity. Those sources keep control of applications, registration, and participation.
Free for the person
Everything Buffalo Projects provides to an individual is free. People stay in charge of their work and choices. Other organizations may charge for what they provide, and Buffalo Projects will say who owns each next step.
Who is responsible
Buffalo Projects was founded by Jacob Rhinehart in Buffalo, New York. The project publishes what it can support with evidence and labels plans as plans.
