Associate or Full Professor of Empire Innovation, Sustainable Materials Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, invites applications for a SUNY Empire Innovation Program faculty position in sustainable materials chemistry, as broadly defined, at the level of Associate or Full Professor. Candidates with research interests in experimental chemistry – involving materials synthesis, characterization, measurement, and/or the development of analytical tools and methods – that advances sustainable technologies, energy conversion and storage, and a cleaner environment, are especially encouraged to apply. Research programs that integrate the development of functional materials with innovative approaches for their chemical, electrochemical, or spectroscopic characterization are particularly welcome.

This position is supported by SUNY’s Empire Innovation Program that funds the expansion of research excellence in strategic areas through the recruitment of top faculty that are recognized leaders of their fields.

The successful candidate will be expected to

• Develop and sustain a nationally and internationally recognized, externally funded research program;
• Contribute to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education;
• Mentor students and researchers from diverse backgrounds;
• Provide leadership and service to the Department, University, and broader scientific community.
