Assistant Teaching Professor, Classics (non-tenure-track)

The Department of Classics at the University at Buffalo State University of New York invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor (10-month obligation) in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage, with an anticipated start date of Spring 2027.

The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester at the undergraduate and graduate levels and contribute to the department’s programs in archaeology and cultural heritage. Teaching responsibilities may include courses in Greek archaeology, the archaeology of Magna Graecia, cultural heritage management, and broader introductory courses in archaeology and material culture. The position carries limited departmental service responsibilities.

A Ph.D. in Classics, Archaeology, or a closely related field is required by the time of appointment. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in cultural heritage management and a research specialization in Greek archaeology, with expertise in Magna Graecia particularly welcome. University-level teaching experience is strongly preferred.

The initial appointment term is for three years and is renewable, contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.
