LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE FOOD SERVICE HELPER 

SALARY: $16 per hour 

HOURS: 20 hrs/week -School Days Only

LOCATION: Amherst Middle School

START DATE: November 18, 2026

DESCRIPTION: The Long Term Substitute Food Service Helper reports to the Cook Manager. This position is an excellent choice for parents who are returning to the work force. The family friendly schedule will allow you to get your children off to school and be there to greet them as they return home.

DUTIES and QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Assists in the preparation and service of food

  • Assist with the cleaning of kitchen equipment

  • Work in the dish room, and do any related work as required

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds

  • Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shift

  • Must be able to understand, read, write and speak the English language

  • Must be a team player.

  • Experience in school food service is helpful, but not necessary

  • Must be fingerprinted through the NYS Department of Education (required for new employees) - fingerprint procedure
